Environmental Footprint
Cyclone Microsystems has had a longstanding commitment to minimize our impact on the environment. We consider environmental stewardship to be of great importance. This ethic is demonstrated by our practices and policies for recycling, waste reduction, and resource management.
Our recycling program encompasses all paper, cardboard, bottles, cans, fluorescent lights, batteries and ink/toner cartridges. In 2007 we formed a partnership with a local company for the recycling/reclaiming of all electronic waste, metals and wood pallets. To date, over two tons of material has been prevented from entering landfills.
One of our waste reduction efforts is the exclusive use of starch based 100% biodegradable loose fill for packaging. All of Cyclone's product manuals and product literature are supplied in electronic PDF format and we practice double sided paper usage. A policy of unsubscribing to all catalog mailing lists has been in place for several years. We have discontinued the use of disposable beverage containers and plastic cutlery. The facility is maintained using earth friendly cleaning products and post consumer recycled paper towels.
Several years ago we implemented a complete retrofit of our lighting to energy efficient ballasts. The act paid for itself within two years with the savings in energy expenses. All computers and monitors utilize power saving settings.
In 2006, Cyclone Microsystems transitioned all new products to adhere to the semiconductor industry's standard of RoHS (Reduction of Hazardous Substances) compliance. We are targeting to sunset a few legacy products which are in non-compliance.
We have taken every opportunity to conduct business with the objective of ecological responsibility and look forward to using new tools and programs as they become available.
